In a strategic move to boost educational access for out-of-school children, a comprehensive refresher training for Accelerated Learning Program (ALP) facilitators was recently conducted.
The program specifically targeted facilitators from three districts, namely Arek town, Bayra Koysha, and Damot Gale districts, focusing on teaching-learning methodologies designed to condense curriculum without compromising quality.
The training comes at a critical time as the Development Association aims to reintegrate overage children into the formal school system. By equipping facilitators with modern pedagogical tools, the initiative ensures that learners who have missed years of schooling can catch up effectively within a shortened timeframe.

The sessions were structured around the “Speed School” model, a globally recognized approach that compresses the first three years of primary education into just ten months. The facilitators engaged in intensive workshops covering:
Activity-Based Learning (ABL): Moving away from rote memorization to hands-on, interactive student participation.
The training brought together educators from three key districts within the Wolaita Zone, fostering a collaborative environment for experience sharing. The Wolaita Development Association plans to follow up this training with regular on-site monitoring.
